About "Listen To Me"

"Listen To Me" is published to allow former employees of Kurzweil Applied Intelligence to maintain contact with each other. At this time, it is a volunteer effort, and the electronic version is free to those with World Wide Web access. Articles are added as they become available, time permitting. The contact database is updated usually within a few days of receiving new information. However, the timeliness of the newsletter will be limited by our other commitments.

The newsletter is hosted on a Web server owned by Ed "MacK" MacKenty, a former Kurzweil employee who, by making the server available to us, allows us to offer the electronic version of this newsletter for free. We are very greatful to Mack for his support for this effort. You can visit his Web site, and also check out the home page of his consulting business.

Information in this newsletter comes from various sources, mostly former Kurzweil AI employees. NONE OF THE INFORMATION IS VERIFIED, so it should be used cautiously. The former employee contact database is strickly for the personal use of registered former Kurzweil AI employees. Commercial use of the database is prohibited.

The newsletter has some public pages, one of which you are viewing now. Some of the pages are private, indicated by a * in the left hand column of the Table of Contents. The private pages are only available to those former KAIers who have registered. Public pages contain information which is available from other sources, such as copies of articles published elsewhere. The private pages include articles about former Kurzweil AI employees, plus a database of former employees. We have attempted to include the names of ALL former employees in the database, and we request that if you identify names missing from the list, you let us know so they can be added. Any information in addition to the name is supplied by the employee when they register.

About Registration

If you are a former Kurzweil AI employee or long term consultant, you are encouraged to register. That will give you access to the complete newsletter, and will add the contact information you supply to the database. Registration involves filling out a form. The only information you MUST supply is your name, but we would greatly appreciate your filling in at least one way to contact you.

At the bottom of the form, you are asked for a "username" and "password". Filling these in will cause a Kurzweil AI Alumni News account to be set up for you, allowing you access to the private pages and the database. At this time, setting up accounts is a manual process, so it will typically take several days for that to happen. (If I'm on vacation, it may take a lot longer!) You will be e-mailed a message when the account is set up, or if there are problems doing that.

If you have already submitted contact information, and you need to update it, please resubmit the form, just filling in your name and whatever fields have changed.

What are my choices if I'm not "wired"?

With the dawning of the new millennium, we no longer offer paper versions of our web site. We feel that at this point, nearly all former Kurzweil AI employees probably have some way to access the web. We are sorry if that prevents some from joining in.
